big wavy beach hair with a flat iron
We all know flat irons are great for getting your hair straight, sleek and smooth but they’re also an amazing tool for big, wavy, beach hair.
We all know flat irons are great for getting your hair straight, sleek and smooth but they’re also an amazing tool for big, wavy, beach hair. Using my new ghd Pink Diamond Professional Styler, I went from flat to fab (I couldn’t resist) in let than 15 minutes! Here’s how it went down…
I started by sectioning my hair and securing it with clips. Take the first section and smooth out the root with your flat iron (step 1), then start to bend the flat iron towards your head when you’re about a 1/3 of the way down your hair (step 2), continue to move the bended iron through your ends and release (step 3). Repeat and continue with small sections till you get through all of your hair (step 4).
Once most of my hair is curled, I like to brush out the top layer of my hair that had been clipped up. Then, repeat the same steps from above.
You can see in the next photo that some pieces of my hair are more curled than others…if this happens to you, don’t worry about it! This is such a quick process because none of it needs to be perfect. I was going for big hair and the different sized waves and curls are perfect for that look.
For the front pieces of hair (aka my bangs that have been growing out for a century now!), I smooth out the root and then curl the very ends under, to create a swoop that falls to the side of my head.
To set the waves/curls, I use Kevin Murphy Hair Resort Spray. I spray my whole head then scrunch away!
Violà! Big, wavy, beach hair in no time!
The BEFORE…and the AFTER.
