As I sit and write this post I have a deep conditioning mask in my hair and it’s 100% coconut oil. That’s it. My mom put me on to this, she like me, has thick, dry, Dominican hair that needs to be extra conditioned. I tried it for the first time last week and fell in love. It’s extra virgin, raw, organic coconut that has not be refined or processed and can be used not only for your hair but also for your skin as a lotion, for cooking in place of other oils and in delicious smoothies. As a mask, simply wash your hair, towel dry and lather it on. Let it sit for an hour (or longer) then rinse it out and use a leave-in conditioner for extra softness. Other benefits: it smell fantastic!, it’s way cheaper than expensive deep conditioners (only $18 for a 32oz. btl) and it’s good for you inside and out! You can order it online here or find it at your local Whole Foods.
