spring handbags: 3 trends

Ask and you shall receive. I recently had a reader write: Having the WORST time finding a cute spring bag that is unique and doesn’t break the bank…..any ideas??? Why yes I do Jen…thanks for asking! This Spring, there are 3 trends for handbags that I love; fun colors, chic neutrals and playful prints. Check out my choices below and don’t worry every bag shown is less than $200, with most of them being less than $100!

This Spring add color to your look with more than just your wardrobe…pick up a bright-colored purse to spice things up a bit. Styling tip: Don’t go crazy and end up with color overload, keep it to one bold item at a time. Bags above from JCrew, Urban Outfitters, Top Shop & Zara.

Neutral bags in ivory, beige, grey and soft pink are chic and perfect for Spring into Summer. These light hues are a great alternative to the black or brown staple bag in your closet. Styling tip: Wearable day or night just remember to stow it away just before Fall; I don’t really adhere to fashion “rules” too much but these pretty babies should be reserved for the warmer months. From florals to animal prints, tribal to stripes, prints are a great way to make your look fun and unique this Spring so just go for it! Styling tip: Like with the color trend, don’t go overboard. Wear your printed purses with solid wardrobe pieces. Let the purse be the statement. Bags above from Forever 21Urban OutfittersTop ShopZara. Happy Shopping!

YOU ARE THE BEST! Thank you so much! EXACTLY what I was looking for..you are a genius! Now to decide between the Gpa, Zara and Urban neutral but they are so well priced maybe I’ll get two! Ok…last question…the bags with the handle and the shoulder straps…not sure I “get” them…doesn’t doing the whole messenger bag thing ruin the look of your outfit?

definitely doesn’t ruin your look BUT they can be challenging to lug around all day. the gap bag has a big enough handle to put on your shoulder but the zara bag should be held by the handle in your hand. the urban bag looks like its somewhere in between. being that you live in ny and probably walk around a lot i would go with the gap bag so you can actually wear it as a shoulder bag. hope that helps! xo

Great advice…going to look at the Urban bag to see how it feels but i think the gap bag may be the winner!
