I recently sent out an email to my subscribers asking them what they would like me to blog about. Well I got two requests for “What to wear on auditions?” With that, I decided I’ll do a What To Wear: Audition post every time I have an audition! I’m currently looking for a new theatrical (tv/film) agent so mostly my auditions are for commercials and hosting. Every time you get a call for a commercial audition they usually give you an idea on how to dress. Examples: hip/trendy, nice-casual, dress for a night out, young mom etc. I used to drive myself crazy thinking “Hmm, what would be good for (insert product name here)” then try on 10 different outfits to end up wearing the first thing I put on! My advice to any actors out there (though I think this applies to all professions) wear what you feel GREAT in! What’s comfortable and appropriate but something you love. Otherwise, you’ll be so worried about what you’re wearing, you’ll be in your head, instead of in the room.
Here’s what I wore today for a hosting audition. F21 jean shorts, Urban top, Vintage tuxedo blazer, Nine West heels, with MAC lips in Chili. PS – don’t ask me what I’m looking at because I’m not really sure. ha!
