I wanted to end today’s Express holiday series with my favorite New Year’s Eve story…
Damien and I had been dating for about a year when he invited me to spend NYE with him at work. Fortunately, his work was mostly play. He was a VJ on MTV and had to co-host the New Year’s Eve show at Times Square. Because he was working, I spent most of the night with friends, running around the TRL studios drinking champagne (ah, those were the days!), then right before midnight he took me outside. I grew up in NYC and never understood why the heck people from all over the world would freeze their butts off to see the ball drop in Time Square…the moment I stepped outside at 11:55pm that night, it was clear. The energy was magical and even though I was completely underdressed, the cold didn’t bother me at all. Damien counted down on-air, along with his fellow VJ co-hosts and when the clock struck midnight we kissed (on-camera!). There was confetti, lots of noise and a fiery crowd and I couldn’t be happier than to experience it all, in the arms of my beau. It was by far the most memorable New Year’s I have ever had and one I will cherish forever. Here’s to a wonderful holiday season and a incredible new year! Let’s party!
