valentine’s day fiesta
My first date with Damien was at a Mexican restaurant here in LA. Since that magical night, when we fell in love over chips and guac, Mexican restaurants have always been our favorite date-night spots. This Valentine’s Day, I wanted to bring the fiesta to our home. As much as we love a night out, we love nothing more than staying in, especially on Valentine’s Day when restaurants are over-crowded and not very intimate. Here’s what I did to create our Valentine’s Day Fiesta and tips for you to do the same:
- Dress nice but be comfy: Damien and I rarely dress up when we go out to eat, so I thought it would be fun to put on a LBD and some heels. This cocktail dress from Express has the perfect party vibe and with a fit and flare silhouette, it’s also comfortable enough to wear at home. I paired it with these super cute, perfect for Valentine’s Day heels, in red of course! Damien is wearing Express too and kept it classic with slim fit jeans, a crisp white dress shirt and baby blue blazer sans tie. Fun, festive and dressy without being stuffy.
- Bring lots of color to your tabletop: When I think of a fiesta, I think about bright, pretty colors and lots of it. I found this runner online and picked up some bright flowers and succulents as accents. I used our white dinnerware to balance out the decor.
- Play old records: We are both huge fans of music and there’s nothing more romantic (& fun) than playing records at home and dancing around the house. Damien is a bit shy dancing in public, so this is the perfect way to get him to get down!
That’s it! Music, decor and cute clothes (plus margaritas) are all you need for the perfect Valentine’s Day Fiesta. Wishing you a lovely Valentine’s Day and if you’re single, have a V-Day fiesta with your girls!
