our first home : kitchen
Ever go to a house party and every one ends up in the kitchen? Why does this ALWAYS happen? It’s like the kitchen is a magnet for company.
Ever go to a house party and every one ends up in the kitchen? Why does this ALWAYS happen? It’s like the kitchen is a magnet for company. Luckily, the kitchen in our new home is open, big and beautiful.
After we changed out the wood floors throughout the house, the kitchen was in pretty good shape, but it had a very busy backsplash. We switched it out for classic subway tile and it made a world of difference. You know what else is a game changer? Cabinet pulls! We changed out the silver pulls that came with the house to brass pulls I found on Amazon. It was super affordable (way cheaper than changing out the cabinets completely) and elevated the overall design of the room.
To help with the layout, we had the island cut smaller for more space. The earlier version was too big and clunky and made the walk way from the fridge to the dining room too narrow. Finally, we painted the kitchen door blue, to match the front door that we changed out.
Just a few small adjustments and we had our dream kitchen! It’s amazing what tile, pulls and the right accesories can do to transform a room.
Stay tuned for more posts each week as I take you through our new home!
