The one healthy thing I try to do for myself everyday is make a green juice. It’s delicious and really makes me feel fantastic. It’s amazing how a glass of veggies can change your day! I started juicing after reading Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Diet. I’ve mentioned her before on here because she’s awesome. My recipe is as follows (modified slightly from Carr’s recipe here):
- 2 large cucumbers (peeled if not organic)
- big fistful of kale
- big fistful of romaine lettuce
- 3 stalks celery
- 1 big broccoli stems (optional)
- 1-2 pears or green apples
- 1 inch of ginger (or less)
- 1 small wedge of lemon (optional)
The recipe above is for about 30 oz of juice, good for 2 people. I was making it for me, Damien and Sylvia so I added extra veggies.
If you’re going to spend the money on a juicer, do yourself a favor and get a good one! A bad one will suck and just sit in your kitchen cabinet. A good one will make juicing fun and easy. Breville has a great line of juicers of different price ranges and you can find them Bed, Bath & Beyond online or in store. Happy Juicing!
