Lately, Damien and I love to make cocktails at home and are really into mixology. We are big fans of tequila but we’re pleasantly surprised to discover how much we enjoy a classic whiskey sour. They are so tasty and if you use these Luxardo cherries as a garnish, it’s like heaven in a glass. While some make their whiskey sours with raw egg whites, we choose to skip the eggs at home. Though, I’ve tried the egg version at bars before and like them almost as much. I’ve tried a few different recipes with different proportions…some have more simple syrup or sugar, some add water etc, but I found that this one is the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Recipe below.

WHISKEY SOUR
2 oz. Bulleit bourbon or whiskey
1 oz. Stirrings simple syrup
1 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
Luxardo maraschino cherries to garnish
Ice

In a shaker (I used this mason jar set from Urban Outfitters), add whiskey, simple syrup, lemon juice and ice. Shake it up. Strain into rocks glass with ice. Garnish with a cherry (or 2!). That’s it! It’s so simple but so delicious. ENJOY!
