My family is in town from upstate New York, staying by the beach in Dana Point. Instead of having Damien and I drive back and forth to hang with them, we decided to take a last minute trip to Laguna Beach this past weekend. Laguna is only 15 minutes from Dana Point and one of our favorite weekend getaway locations. This time around we tried a new hotel called the Laguna Beach House; a quaint, boutique hotel with a beach cottage vibe and vintage, surfer decor. They have a lovely wine reception every night followed by milk and cookies and are near downtown Laguna. Win, win!

Despite a crazy, rain storm on Saturday, our weekend was still fun-filled! After a delicious breakfast with Damien at Nick’s, my family came down to meet us at the hotel. We caught up in the room (and stayed dry) then for lunch, we all went to Avila’s, a fun Mexican spot perfect for big groups. The rain cleared and we took a long walk on the beach. Then, Damien and I ended the evening with dinner at Okura. On Sunday, the sun came back out and so did my family. We spent the morning at the beach then laid out by the pool, before heading to The Stand for yummy pita sandwiches and smoothies. We said our goodbyes and headed back to LA.

All and all, it was a lovely weekend getaway. Laguna never disappoints and neither did the Laguna Beach House. Until next time Orange County!

I love Laguna! Next time, La Sirena (hole in the wall best Mexican food ever), San Shi Go (locals love this sushi spot) and Lumberyard. Not necessarily the most scenic restaurants, but the BEST food ever.

    • NICE!!!!!! We’ll have to try all of these next time! xo
