What’s better than yummy food and gorgeous jewelry? Nothing, that’s what. Well, maybe a beyond fascinating tour of Simon G headquarters and learning the intricate process of making a fine piece of jewelry. Last week, I was invited to a brunch hosted by Marie Claire magazine and Simon G, where I got to do just that. Seeing some of my favorite blogger babes (Lindsay AlbaneseJamie StoneSheridan Gregory & Ashley Fultz) was an added bonus. I had no idea what it takes to hand-make a piece of jewelry; from custom pieces to set designs, it’s quite a process. The family-owned company does all the work in-house, and takes pride in making jewelry that’s absolutely perfect for their customers. From checking and measuring each diamond, to making a 3D render of the piece, to a wax or metal mold of the piece (to make sure it’s going to be perfect), to actually heating and melting the metals into the final design; there are a lot of skilled workers touching every piece of jewelry going through the headquarters. It was such a cool thing to see and gave me a much deeper appreciation for fine jewelry. The delicious brunch and beautiful table decor was pretty great too!
