the grasie guide: botanica
Botanica is a new part-restaurant/part-market spot in the heart of Silverlake.
Botanica is a new part-restaurant/part-market spot in the heart of Silverlake. I recently stopped in for breakfast and everything looked and tasted so fresh and delicious. I started with the iced latte with cashew and date milk and it might be my favorite latte in Los Angeles! The Ghee-Toasted Banana Buckwheat Poppyseed Bread was the perfect blend of citrus and sweet; a must try. I also got a delicious salad, the Fattoush-y, which was topped with sumac focaccia, fresh vegetables, and a sprinkle of za’atar! I still needed some classic breakfast options so I tried the John’s Maple Bacon and the 6-minute egg. Both were cooked to perfection!
Emily Fiffer and Heather Sperling, who were longtime food and lifestyle writers, are the masterminds behind this cool new space. Botanica even has their own publication, in which both Fiffer and Sperling share recipes and lifestyle tips. Their main intention is to have people come taste these farmer’s market-inspired dishes, and then recreate them at home (hence the marketplace filled with local produce). Botanica is the perfect place to gather for some good food and to shop for your local produce. Go check it out!
